Patagonia, Doughty beheaded, 1785

"Mr. Doughty beheaded by order of Sir. Francis Drake, at Port St. Julian, on the coast of Patagonia" (for mutiny) engraved by Goldar after a picture by Dodd, published in Millar's New Complete & Universal System of Geography, about 1782. Copper engraved print with recent hand colour. Good condition with plate mark and wide margins. Size 15.5 x 26 cms. Ref D5481
