Gloucestershire, Environs of Cheltenham, 1815

"Environs of Cheltenham" engraved and puiblished by John Cary in Cary's New Itinerary, about 1815. It does show the 'Rail Road' between Gloucester Docks and Cheltenham, one of the earliest plateways in the world, using horse drawn goods wagons. Copper engraved map with a small amount of original hand colouring. Two folds as published and slight age browning. Size 22 x 17 cms plus margins. Ref F1144
