Kent, beached ships near Margate, 1842

"The 'Westminster' and 'Claudine', ashore near Margate" engraved by J.C.Bentley after a picture by W.H.Bartlett, published in Finden's Ports and Harbours..., 1842. These ships were deliberately run ashore during a storm to stop them sinking, they were later repaired and refloated. Steel engraved print with recent hand colouring. Good condition. Size 18 x 14 cms including title, plus margins. Ref H3044
