London, Cheapside Cross being dismantled in 1643, 1793

"Cheapside Cross" copper plate etching originally published by N.Smith for the Society of Antiquaries in 1793, this example being bound into Antiquities of London and it's Environs ..., about 1801. Explanation below the image tells how the Cross was pulled down by the army on 2nd May 1643. Library blind-stamp in margins (not affecting the image), otherwise good condition with full plate mark. Size 17 x 21 cms including title, plus good margins. Ref G327
