Turkey, Antioch,  1852

"Antioch" (modern Turkish Antakya) drawn by W.H.Bartlett, engraver's name not given, published in The Footsteps of Our Lord, 1852. Founded in 300 BC by the Greeks and was the centre of the Seleucid Kingdom until 64 BC, when the Romans made it the capital of their province of Syria. Very fine steel engraved print with recent hand colour. Size 125 x 9.5 cms. Ref C8137
