"Volcanoes" wood engraving by Whimper, with full original hand colouring. Published by the SPCK (Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge) in 1846. The volcano depicted is Jorulla in Mexico, first formed in June 1759 in a 'well cultivated and fertile plain'. Size 23 x 31 cms including text, plus margins. Ref F5686
