France, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853

"France" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes show Calais Harbour, Garden of the Palais Royal, The Bridge of Toulouse, Palace of Fontainebleau. Slight soiling, otherwise good condition. Size 31.5 x 25.5 cms including decorative border, plus good margins. Ref G1959
