West Canada, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853.

"West Canada" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Kingston (another version of this map had a Buffalo hunt instead of the Kingston view), Niagara Falls and Seal of the Colony (again an earlier version had beavers instead of the Seal.) Good condition. Size 33 x 25.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G2006
