"Australia" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Australian parrots and cockatoo, Kangaroos, Natives of Australia Felix, Natives of the Tribe of Bogan and a view of Sydney. Also marked in yellow are the goldfields. Lower margin close trimmed (no loss), otherwise good condition. Size 32.5 x 25.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G2013
