Australia, Victoria or Port Phillip, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853

"Victoria, or Port Phillip" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Melbourne, River Glenelg a kangaroo and aborigenes. Also marked in yellow are the 'gold diggings'. Lower margin close cropped (no loss), otherwise good condition. Size 32 x 26.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G2015
