"Polynesia, or Islands in the Pacific Ocean" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Kalakakooa in the Sandwich Islands, Otaheite, Resolution Bay in Marquesas and Harbour of Dory in New Guinea. Good condition. Size 35 x 26 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G2020
