"Eastern Hemisphere" and "Western Hemisphere" Pair of classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin maps published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved maps with original outline hand colour, the more desirable versions without a centrefold and with good margins. Mail Routes to the Colonies are coloured blue, and the decorative vignettes show various fauna and native peoples. Extremely slight soiling and age browning. Size 33 x 26 and 34 x 25 cms including decorative borders, plus margins. Ref G2028
