Godard's Montgolfier Balloon at London, 1864. "Ascent of M.Godard's Montgolfier Balloon from Cremorn Gardens" wood engraved print published in The Illustrated London News, July 1864. A large hot-air balloon, 117ft tall, but burdened with an 18ft stove for burning bundles of compressed straw. It did manage to lift off causing some damage to a 'theatrical Swiss Cottage', travelling not many miles to land in Greenwich. Size 15.5 x 21 cms including title, plus margins with descriptive text. Ref F1594
