Crimea, Valley of the Tchernaya, Simpson, 1855. "Valley of the Tchernaya, looking North" lithographed by T.Picken after a drawing by W.Simpson, published by Paul & Dominic Colnaghi in The Seat of War in the East, 1855. Fine large tinted lithograph on heavy paper, with wide margins. Small pinprick registration holes barely visible in each lower corner. Slight foxing. Supplied with this is a smaller key to the view. Size 48 x 26.5 cms. Ref D5631

Slight-moderate surface soiling, mainly noticeable outside the plate mark, otherwise good condition with a strong plate mark and good margins. Size 27 x 37 to plate mark, plus margins of about 1.5 cms extra. Ref D5469

Major Skey and the Right Hon. Lord Clive, Kays Portraits, 1792/1835. [ Major Skey and the Right Hon. Lord Clive (Now Earl of Powys) of the Shropshire Militia. ] The passing of the Militia Act, in 1797, occasioned great excitement in Scotland; and several riots of a serious nature having occurred, it was deemed prudent to augment the military force of the country. The Shropshire, commanded by Lord Clive, was the first corps of English militia brought across the border. Copper etched print published in Kay's Edinburgh Portraits, 1837-8. Size 11 x 19 cms plus margins. Ref D5414
