India map, 1858.
"British India" lithographic map based on Rapkin's map of about 10 years earlier. Published in The History of the Indian Mutiny ..., about 1859. Centrefold as published, some original hand colour, augmented with recent wash colour. Good condition. Size 25 x 33.5 cms plus margins. Ref H7363
India (Hindoostan) map, 1820.
"Hindoostan" engraved by J.Russell after Arrowsmith, published in Rees's Cyclopedia; or, Universal Dictionary ..., 1820. Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colouring, centrefold as published. Narrow left margin, otherwise good condition. Size 26 x 32.5 cms, plus margins. Ref H6913
India (Hindoostan) map, 1817.
"Hindoostan" engraved by T.Clerk, published in A New and Complete System of Modern Geography ..., 1817. Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colouring, good condition. Size 19.5 x 24 cms, plus margins. Ref H6789
Sri Lanka (Ceylon), manuscript map of the railways, dated 1948.
"Ceylon, Government Railways". Hand drawn map in pen with blue colouring for the coast. All railways and rivers marked (rivers green), many places of interest indicated as well as all railway stations or stops. A key upper right indicates broad guage lines shown in heavy black, narrow guage in thin black, roads in a slightly thicker black, rivers in green and some heights marked in red. Monogrammed lower right, with 'Trincomalee' and dated 20 Jan 1948 (independance was proclaimed 4th Feb 1948). Drawn on the the back of part of a British admiralty chart of the coast of China. On thick paper, some staining and creasing due to being rolled badly for many years. Size 44 x 63 cms, plus margins. Ref H5719
Southern India, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1858.
"Southern India" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published by The London Printing and Publishing Company, about 1858. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Shuhur at Jeypoor, Tomb of Sultan Mahomed Shah in Bejapoor and Government House in Calcutta. Good condition. Size 23 x 32.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref H5258
India, Plan of Delhi, 1857.
"Plan of Delhi with the siege operations 1857" published by Blackie & Son, 1857. Colour lithographic plan with blue overprinting indicating gun batteries etc. Slight damp staining upper left and slight foxing. Size 13.5 x 21.5 cms plus margins. Ref H5251

"Plan of the City of Calcutta" colour lithographic map published in Lett's Popular Atlas, about 1881. Very detailed, with a key to important buildings. Linen backed, some foxing and narrow side margins, otherwise good condition. Size 42 x 29 cms, plus margins. Ref H3561

South India & Sri Lanka (Ceylon), map by Bonne, 1780.
"Carte de la Partie Inferieure de l' Inde en deça du Gange : conternant l'Isle de Ceylan, les Côtes de Malabar et de Coromandel; avec le pays compris entre ces Cotes" by M.Bonne, published about 1780. Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colour. Several vertical (flattened) folds as published, slight staining in margins and sea area, good margins with full plate mark. Size 32 x 21.5 cms plus margins. Ref H3417
Maldives map by Bellin, 1750.
"Carte Des Isles Maldives" by Nicholas Bellin, published in Prevost's Histoire des Voyages, about 1750. Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colour. Several (flattened) folds as published, good margins with partial plate mark. Size 15 x 22 cms plus margins. Ref H3415

"Hindoostan" (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) engraved by Cooper after Alex Macpherson, published in A System of Modern Geography, 1811. Copper engraved antique map, with recent hand colouring. Right margin close trimmed, no loss. Size 19 x 24.5 cms, plus margins. Ref H1937
India on two sheets, Smith's New General Atlas, 1824.
"Map of Hindoostan Exhibiting its present Political Divisions ..." engraved by Pickett, published in Smith's New General Atlas, 1824 (maps dated 1822). Pair of large (double page) copper engraved maps with original hand colour, designed such that they will fit together to form one large map. British 'posessions' coloured in red, under the protection of the British in yellow, independant powers in green. Faint stain to upper right of upper (north) map, othersise very good condition. Size of each map 60 x 36 cms. Ref H992

"Ceylon" published by the Royal Geographical Society in Gazetteer of the World, 1886. Colour lithographic map. Good condition. Size 14 x 24 cms plus margins. Ref G9711
