Kent, Cottage at Headcorn, watercolour, about 1870

[ Cottage at Headcorn in Kent ] anonymous artist. A competent little landscape of River Beult in foreground, cottages and figures heightened in white. Buildings now possibly built over, having been painted about 1870, by a trained artist/amateur. As usual for the period no signature or monogram, but showing the artist to be a follower of David Cox or Myles Birket Foster, both in style and presentation. Excellent, unfaded condition with no foxing, probably from a sketchpad or folio. Size 19.5 x 16.5 cms. Ref F6381
