Jamaica, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853.

"Jamaica" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes show Port Antonio, Sugar Mill, Port Royal Harbour, Kingston and the Seal of the Colony. Close trimmed to upper margin, with slight loss (see scan), otherwise good condition. Size 34.5 x 26 cms including decorative border, plus good margins. Ref G1958
