China, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853.

"China" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include British Factories in Canton, Hing Kong and Chinese Soldiers. Closed tear into right side, extending 2cms into map area (no loss), otherwise good condition. Size 33 x 25.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G1990
