"British America" (Canada) classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Fury & Hecla ships, Eskimos, Whale Fishing, a Seal and Montreal (an earlier version of this map had a Boston view instead of Montreal). Slight soiling lower right corner, otherwise good condition. Size 33 x 26 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G2005
