"Western Africa" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Christiansborg, Cape Coast Castle, Sierra Leone and Bakel. Very good condition, BUT - laid down on mount board with brown mount pasted around edge. Size 33 x 25 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref H9951
