Europe, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853.

"Europe" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes show Seal Hunting, Lapland Travellers, Russian Travellers, an Arab and Camel, a Slave Market and some sailing ships. Good condition. Size 32 x 26 cms including decorative border, plus good margins. Ref G1949
