Syria, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853.

"Syria" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Jerusalem view, Arabs and Baggage Camels. Good condition. Size 25 x 33.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G1987
