French decorative composition after LePautre, 17th century / 1870. Decorative etching by Decloux and Doury, published in Collection des plus Belles Compositions de Le Pautre, Paris, about 1870. Jean Le Pautre (1618-1682) was the most important ornament engraver of the 17th century, producing over 1500 prints, mainly for use by architects and sculptors. This 19th century copy is well printed on wove paper, with a good impression and plate mark with wide margins. Size 23.5 x 18 cms to plate mark, plus good margins. Ref E5624
