Switzerland, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853. "Switzerland" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Bern, William Tell shooting the apple, Tyrolese and Chamois Hunters. Good condition. Size 32.5 x 25 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G1968

Faults - slight age browning, several edge tears not affecting map, several wormholes upper left in decorative border. Text on reverse. Size 40 x 32 cms plus margins. Ref G1585
