Closed tear in lower margin, would not be visible when framed. Size 39 x 30 cms including title, plus good margins. Ref E9440

"Carte qui represente les differentes connoissances que L'on a eues des Terres Arctiques depuis 1650 jusqu'en 1747 …1773" Published in the 'Vaugondy Supplement' to Diderot's Encyclopedia, 1772 or 79. Four maps of the Hudson, Button and Baffin Bay regions, Davis Straits and the Coast Labrador, as developed and explored between 1650 and 1750. Several folds as published, narrow margin upper left, lower margin trimmed with some loss of the neatline. Several small (1-2 cm) tears along one fold, with slight loss. Size 37.5 x 29.5 cms plus margins. Ref E9439
North west America, north east Asia & Arctic Regions, Diderot, 1780. "Carte Generale Des Decouvertes De L'Amiral De Fonte et autres Navigateurs Espagnols Anglois et Russes pour le recherche du Passage a la Mer du Sud par M. De l'Isle …1752" engraved by Heidegger. Published in the 'Vaugondy Supplement' to Diderot's Encyclopedia, 1772 or 79. Shows the conjectural northwest coast, based upon De Font and Russian Discoverers, including the Bay of the West. Several folds as published, margins of about 1 cm or more, apart from upper left where the map was bound in. Several small (1 cm) tears along one fold (no loss.) Size 37.5 x 29.5 cms plus margins. Ref E9438

Published in the 'Vaugondy Supplement' to Diderot's Encyclopedia, 1772 or 79. Northern western hemisphere on Mercator's projection showing North America and Europe and the supposed North-West passage between Hudson and Baffin Bay and the Arctic Ocean. Several folds as published, margins of about 1 cm or more, apart from lower left where the map was bound in. Size 41.5 x 21 cms plus margins. Ref E9437
