British India, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853. "British India" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour. The colour is coded to indicate the several Presidencies. The decorative vignettes include Lahore, Cootub Minar at Delhi, Beloochees and an Indian procession with elephants. Centrefold as published, very slight soiling, otherwise good condition with good margins. Size 25 x 34 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref H9083

"The East Indies; distinguishing the Empires and Kingdoms on the Continent commonly call'd India: By the Sr.Robert, with Improvements" anonomous engraver, published in the Geographical Dictionary, 1760. Copper engraved antique map, very slight age browning and narrow lower margin, otherwise good condition with most of the plate mark. Size 29.5 x 20 cms, plus margins. Ref H9081
India, Indian Mutiny map, c1859. "British India" lithographic map based on Rapkin's map of about 10 years earlier. Published in The History of the Indian Mutiny, about 1859. With pale original outline hand colour, dates of Battles etc. in four boxes around map. Centrefold as published, good condition. Size 25 x 34 cms plus margins. Ref H9079
India, large map on two sheets, by J Bartholomew, c1875. "India" by J Bartholomew, published by A & C Black in an atlas, about 1875. Pair of chromo-lithographic maps on two large sheets, each with a centrefold as published, the northern map having an inset map of Burma, the southern map a small inset showing the position of India. Good condition, with good margins. Sheet size 60 x 45 cms each. Ref H9068 (NOTE - these just fitted my scanner, so the good margins are not shown.)

Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colouring, centrefold as published. Narrow left margin, otherwise good condition. Size 26 x 32.5 cms, plus margins. Ref H6913
India (Hindoostan) map, 1817. "Hindoostan" engraved by T.Clerk, published in A New and Complete System of Modern Geography ..., 1817. Copper engraved antique map with recent hand colouring, good condition. Size 19.5 x 24 cms, plus margins. Ref H6789
Sri Lanka (Ceylon), manuscript map of the railways, dated 1948. "Ceylon, Government Railways". Hand drawn map in pen with blue colouring for the coast. All railways and rivers marked (rivers green), many places of interest indicated as well as all railway stations or stops. A key upper right indicates broad guage lines shown in heavy black, narrow guage in thin black, roads in a slightly thicker black, rivers in green and some heights marked in red. Monogrammed lower right, with 'Trincomalee' and dated 20 Jan 1948 (independance was proclaimed 4th Feb 1948). Drawn on the the back of part of a British admiralty chart of the coast of China. On thick paper, some staining and creasing due to being rolled badly for many years. Size 44 x 63 cms, plus margins. Ref H5719
Southern India, Tallis/Rapkin map, 1858. "Southern India" classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published by The London Printing and Publishing Company, about 1858. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Shuhur at Jeypoor, Tomb of Sultan Mahomed Shah in Bejapoor and Government House in Calcutta. Good condition. Size 23 x 32.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref H5258
