Cylon (Sri Lanka), Tallis/Rapkin map, 1853. "Ceylon" (Sri Lanka) classic decorative Tallis/Rapkin map published in Tallis's The Illustrated Atlas ..., about 1853. Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include Lake of Kandy, Adams Peak, Ruins of A Dagoba, Temple of Buddha at Kalany and Colombo. Good condition. Size 23.5 x 33.5 cms including decorative border, plus margins. Ref G1997

Steel engraved map with original outline hand colour, the more desirable version without a centrefold and with good margins. The decorative vignettes include British Presidency at Hyderabad, Car of Juggernaut, a Tiger Hunt and Ruins in Old Delhi. Lower margin close cropped (no loss), otherwise good condition.
